Maji Mazuri Children’s Centre got a boost on Sunday courtesy of Entertainment with Fun for Charity Basketball Tourney in conjunction with their official sponsors Sportpesa.

The monthly tournament, which was initiated by Genge artist Hubert Nakitare alias Nonini, as part of SPortPesa Community Social Responsibility, is committed to assisting the less fortunate in the society.

And after hosting their third edition of the tournament at the Nyayo National Stadium last month, raising Sh153,000 from gate collection, the SportPesa Team accompanied by well-wishers and EFC representatives embarked on the painting project at the Nairobi-based Children’s home last week.

Apart from giving the children’s home a facelift, the team, which painted the interiors for three days, donated fire extinguishers and toys to the home.

The home, which takes care of mentally, physically challenged orphans and vulnerable children aged between 4 to 18 years old currently has 51 in its abode.

According to the organisers, the tournament aims to touch many lives across the country through basketball which is a darling sport to many.

“So far the reception has been incredible with fans supporting the tournament and participating to be part of the noble cause,” Nonini said.

The tournament which is held on every last weekend of the month, attracts various institutions and estate teams battling out for the top prizes and other accolades.

The winning team pockets half of the prize money with the other half going to a charity course of the organisers’ choice, from the many proposals they receive.
