Former corporator commits suicide

Lucknow: A former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) corporator ended her life at her house in Talkatora on Monday. Her husband is the current BJP corporator from Rajajipuram ward.
Police said Lata Upadhyay (37) lived with her husband Jitendra and son Tushar, a class IX student at sector-E of Rajajipuram. Jitendra had left home for a public meeting while Tushar had left for his school.
Around 1pm, when Tushar returned from school and started looking for his mother, he found her body hanging from the ceiling of one of the rooms.He sought help from his neighbour, who informed Jitendra.
Talkatora SO Ashok Yadav said no suicide note was recovered so the cause behind the suicide is not known. He said Lata's parents had been informed and they were yet to lodge a complaint in this regard. The family was in a state of shock and so were Lata's neighbours. "She was a strong willed woman and would cheer people up. We are yet to believe that Lata ended her life this way," said a neighbour.
20-year-old hangs self: A 20-year-old woman committed suicide, on Monday, by hanging herself from the ceiling in Mohanlalganj. The deceased was identified as Soni Singh. Police said a suicide note was also recovered from the spot, which said that Soni was depressed and was upset over a personal issue.

Student ends life: A 22-year-old girl committed suicide at her house in Indiranagar, on Monday. The girl was identified as Sangita who was a BA student at Eram Girls Degree College. Father of the deceased Shiv Gupta informed police after he banged the door of her room and no response came, then broke open to find her dead. No suicide note was recovered from the spot.Family members of the victim said the girl had been fighting acute depression. "Earlier also, she had threatened to end her life," said one of the family members. In the note, she said was remorseful for the trouble she caused her parents and held herself responsible for her actions.
