Off-road motorcycle fans have another reason to be happy as Honda finally released it’s new 2017 CRF450 dirt bike, coming with improvements in every sector and promising top performance along with a new trim level altogether.
"We're very proud to introduce the milestone 2017 edition of Honda's legendary CRF450R, as well as the brand-new CRF450RX," said Lee Edmunds, Manager of Motorcycle Marketing Communications at American Honda. "

Both of these models are high-performance machines that represent the epitome of dirt bike engineering. Over the years, each of the milestone CRF450R models has been eagerly anticipated, and the 2017 version is the best yet.

Honda’s punchline for the new CRF450R model is “Absolute Holeshot”, which, for those not understanding motocross, refers to the first 100 feet of an enclosed-course when it’s very important to get ahead of the pack as everyone is rushing through a bottleneck after the starting area.

Supreme acceleration is said to be achieved thanks to a new “Unicam” engine that boasts an ultra-direct downdraft air intake, steeper valve angle and twin exhaust system with smoother routing. The compression ratio also went up to 13.5:1, but the bike manufacturer didn’t say how much horsepower does it make.

The chassis has been reconfigured and packed in a way to lower the center of mass, maximize stability and improve cornering. The lighter aluminum frame has a narrower cross section and a lighter rear subframe. New 49mm Showa fork got mounted at the front, while the rear got a lighter swingarm and a shock with a lower mounting position. Brakes are also slightly better up front.

Moving to the new Honda CRF450RX, the model comes with most of the features on the R, but it is designed for closed-course off-road riding an racing, unlike the motocross R.

Distinctive features include a smoother ignition map and standard electric start, off-road suspension setting, different wheel hubs and axles, larger plastic fuel tank, forged-aluminum side stand, 18-inch rear rim and Dunlop Geomax AT81 tires.

Finally, the CRF450X comes with a Showa suspension, trail-tuned chassis, superior ergonomics, Honda’s Progressive Steering Damper and electric start, making it handle and feel right in a variety of off-road terrains.
