Governor of Alaska, Bill Walker, met Qatar’s ambassador to the United States, Mohamed Jaham al-Kuwari, during his visit to the US State yesterday.
Talks during the meeting dealt with means of enhancing bilateral relations between the US and Qatar, especially on the economic and cultural levels.
During the visit, which came at the invitation of Mayor of the City of Anchorage, Ethan Berkowitz, al-Kuwari took part along with members of the Anchorage Chamber and the Alaska World Affairs Council in a Panel Discussion which focused on two major themes: Internal Politics of The State of Qatar; Large Projects Implemented by the State of Qatar in Education, Economy and Sports, as well as Qatar’s Preparations to Host the 2022 FIFA World Cup and Foreign Policy of the State of Qatar, Initiatives Undertaken to Resolve Regional Conflicts and Reach Political Solutions; Efforts for the Release Hostages in addition to regional crises, particularly the crisis
in Syria, Iraq and Yemen.
HE al-Kuwari has also visited Rasmuson Foundation, which aims to promote a better life for Alaskans and focuses on Arts & culture, health and social services.
The embassy of Qatar has donated a grant to the Foundation to develop a special programme aimed at establishing a Domestic Violence Shelter for Women and Children.
