LUDHIANA:The police rounded up two residents of Mullanpur village last night in connection with the torching of a bus of Dabwali Transport Company on August 18.

Ludhiana, August 21

The police rounded up two residents of Mullanpur village last night in connection with the torching of a bus of Dabwali Transport Company on August 18.

AAP leader HS Phoolka visited the Mullanpur police station along with his supporters and demanded the releases of the detained persons, Gurbant Singh and Vikramjeet Singh.

The police claimed that the two men witnessed the arson and one of the persons who torched the bus told them that he was going to pay obeisance at the tomb of Peer Zahar Bali. A police team along with Gurbant and Vikramjeet watched the CCTV footage at the tomb at Badhowal village this evening.

Phoolka alleged that the youths were picked up from their houses and kept in illegal custody.

Kulwant Singh, SHO, said, “The duo was told to join the investigation. A case has been registered on the complaint of Jaspreet Singh, an employee of Dabwali Transport. The bus driver, Amritpal Singh, was booked under the bailable Section 304-A of the IPC, so he was released on bail.”

Opinderjeet Ghuman, Senior Superintendent of Police, said, “No one was detained. We are investigating the matter.” — TNS
