Madhuban (Karnal), August 21
Retired policemen today held a state-level convention at the Haryana Police Academy, Madhuban, to make DGP KP Singh aware of their problems.
While listening to their grievances, the DGP said the retired cops had a valuable experience, which could help serving policemen in the field of investigation and community policing.
He said the Haryana Police would start the shift duty system after the joining of over 7,200 new appointees.
“I have asked the SPs of the state to hold welfare meetings of retired policemen to address their grievances,” said the DGP.
“I have fixed time for the regular policemen in my office from 9-10 am on working days and for the retired ones, 10am to 10.15 am,” the DGP said.
The retired cops demanded bus facility as provided to the serving policemen, Punjab pension on Punjab pattern, cashless medical facility, 7th Pay Commission recommendation, 15 per cent reservation in the police recruitment to the wards of retired and serving police personnel, 10 per cent reservation in the allotment of plots in HUDA sectors and the Haryana Housing Board, and equal facility to their wards in admission in DAV Police Public Schools among other.
When asked about giving the post of DSP to medallists instead of a coach or district sport officer, he said it was the prerogative of the government.
