Senior citizen ends life

A 70-year-old man died after jumping from AEC Bridge on August 18. According to the Naranpura police, Mahendra Patel, 70, a resident of CP Colony, Satadhar crossroads, Ghatlodia, had jumped from AEC Bridge at 8.30 pm on August 28. He was taken to the Civil Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.
Body identified
Santej police, which had found a body from Narmada canal on August 16, has ascertained the victim's identity.Police have identified the deceased as Kalpesh Mewada, 38, a resident of Gota. The body had been fished out by Gandhinagar Fire and Emergency Services.
Chain snatched
A woman was robbed of her gold chain worth Rs 20,000 in Krishnanagar area. According to the complaint registered by Sudamaprasad Gupta, a resident of Arbudanagar, and the woman's husband, he was passing by Heerawadi BRTS bus stand at 7.15 pm on August 18 driving a bike with his wife riding pillion when two motorcycle-borne miscreants waylaid him and sped away after snatching his wife's necklace.
