Everyone can realise God

The company of Sri Ramakrishna was God intoxicating. Many struggling souls would come to him to get their spiritual consciousness awakened. A school teacher by name Mahendra Nath Gupta accidentally met him for the first time.  He led such a troubled life that he had decided to commit suicide.  With that intention he had gone to spend a few days with his nephew and then end his life.  But, one day the nephew took him to the premises of the Kali temple of Dakshineswar where Sri Ramakrishna was living.  Soon after entering the premises, Mahendra Nath Gupta, who was fondly referred to as M, happened to reach the doorstep of the room where Sri Ramakrishna stayed.  He was stunned by what he saw inside.  Inside the room Sri Ramakrishna was discussing soul-elevating spiritual topics with devotees and the discussions were interspersed with devotional singing of a soul-stirring nature.  M wondered whether Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu was singing Kirtans in the company of devotees or whether Shuka Deva himself was expounding the Bhagavata. What he witnessed impressed him so much that he started visiting Sri Ramakrishna frequently.  Whenever he would be in the company of Sri Ramakrishna he would experience extraordinary uplift of the mind and would feel transported to a different world.  The spiritual life would appear very simple and spiritual realization very much possible.  But, the moment he would come back home he would again be overwhelmed by the family problems.  So he started wondering whether it was really possible for someone living the life of a householder to realize God or the Ultimate Truth.  He would often pose this question to Sri Ramakrishna in ever so many ways.  But, invariably Sri Ramakrishna would come up with the same answer that it was certainly possible for the householders to realize God.  But, he would tell him that it was necessary to follow certain disciplines.
