PUNE: An inspector of Indapur police station was suspended for allegedly ignoring a kidnapping case and, instead, registering it as a missing person's complaint about 15 months ago. The victim was eventually found murdered.
Special inspector general of police (Kolhapur range) Vishwas Nangre-Patil issued the suspension orders against police officer Madhukar Shinde on Saturday after the deputy superintendent of police submitted his inquiry report in the issue.

About a fortnight 15 days ago, Pune rural police's crime branch of Pune rural police recovered a skeleton from a field located in Indapur taluka. The police team arrested three suspects in relation to the case. The suspects had allegedly kidnapped and murdered a youth, Ruturaj Torne, nearly 15 months ago after kidnapping him. The police are investigating the case as of now.
Meanwhile, it was revealed that despite repeated complaints by family members, Indapur police had only registered a missing person's complaint. The murder came to light about a month ago after the case was transferred to the local crime branch for further investigation.
Tanaji Chikhale, additional superintendent of police Pune rural, told TOI, that after receiving orders from top officers, suspension orders of police inspector Madhukar Shinde has been issued. "He neglected the investigation of the missing person. Further, there was an untoward incident on a toll naka in which he was involved," Chikhale added.In both cases, Shinde reportedly neglected his duties and thus action has been taken against him, Chikhale said.
