MUMBAI: A day after a key Chhota
Rajan aide, Ganesh Singh Bhist alias Danny, was
arrested, the police said on Saturday his arrest could help dig out information on some murder cases including that of journalist J Dey. He could also give a peek on Rajan’s operations in Uttarakhand and Nepal.
Bhist was arrested for the murder of Gawli
gang member Paul Patrick in 1989. He and his two aides allegedly shot Patrick in the Fort area.
Sources said Bhist was part of a gang that went to Nepal to eliminate Dawood aide Dilshad Mirza Baig, a parliamentarian from Nepal who was shot dead in Kathmandu in 1998.
Bhist served in the defence force between 1975 and 1983 before taking to crime.
With strong links in Uttarakhand, he knew Nayan Bhist, an absconding accused in the J Dey murder case, said sources.
