Life convict in Rajiv murder to file defamation case against ex-CBI officer

VELLORE: Shanthan, alias Chinna Santhan, undergoing life imprisonment in the Rajiv Gandhi assassination case, will file a defamation case against former CBI officer K Ragothaman ‘for spreading false information on his involvement in the case,’ counsel for Shanthan P Pugalenthi has said.
After meeting Santhan in the Vellore Central Prison for Men on Saturday, Pugalenthi said Ragothaman, in his book ‘Conspiracy to Kill Rajiv Gandhi from CBI files,’ has used a photograph of the blast site.He talks of a person standing next to Rajiv Gandhi and says it is Chinna Santhan. However, Santhan has refuted it, Pugalenthi says.
“The person mentioned as Chinna Santhan is not him (Santham)," the lawyer said on Santhan’s behalf.
The photograph came to Santhan’snotice only recently he said and added that they would soon file a defamation case against Ragothaman in the Madras high court.
