The Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli (IIMT) welcomed Ms. Prachi Garg to conduct a lecture on the topic of the “Challenges women entrepreneurs face and how to cope up with them”. Ms. Garg is the founder of www.ghoomophiro.com, a start-up that helps in curating corporate tours. The lecture was organized by the Entrepreneurship Cell (E-Cell) of IIMT.
Highlighting the ground realities and societal perceptions regarding women entrepreneurs, she spoke about the importance of family support and the ease of access to funding. Speaking from her own experience Ms.Garg said, “I always wanted to be my own boss and loved travelling. I do what I love and get to share it with others every day of my life”. She added that a management course was the best platform to develop and hone ideas, test them and get them out into the market.
The highlight of the evening was the book launch for “Superwomen”, authored by Ms Prachi Garg. The book features the life stories of 20 women entrepreneurs who fought all odds to emerge successful in their business ventures. The students also received a signed copy of the book.
IIM Tiruchirappalli one the premier and most sought after among the new IIMs is also one of the fastest rising B-school among 20 IIMs of India. The institute has increased the intake for its PGP 2016-18 batch from 110 to 180 students.
PGP 2016-18 batch at IIM Trichy is all set to move to its new permanent 175 acre sprawling campus located at Trichy-Pudukkottai road. The shifting of campus may materialize in a month or so. At present IIM Trichy is operating from the transit campus at National Institute of Technology (NIT) Trichy.
IIM Trichy apart from its main campus at Tiruchirappalli has another campus at Chennai which conducts Post Graduate Programme in Business Management (PGPBM) as one of the flagship programmes of IIM Tiruchirappalli (IIMT).
PGPBM was launched in 2012 to groom working executives in and around Chennai, who aspire to move into senior leadership roles. The programme aims to develop competent professional managers, capable of working in any sector of organized activity, provide leadership and achieve excellence even while contributing to the welfare of society at large.
IIM Tiruchirappalli (Trichy), the 11th IIM in the country started functioning in 2011 under the directorship of Dr. Prafulla Agnihotri whose latest innovation in teaching is 'application of inquiry method of learning to the management education' which has brought distinction to the institute in its innovative method of teaching.
The institute focuses on developing competent professionals for the industry. The flagship programme, PGPM has been instrumental in achievement of this goal. Hard Work, Perseverance, Passion and Integrity are some of the virtues taught at the institute. IIMT has a collection of eminent faculty and motivated students which form its backbone.
