Kathmandu, August 18

The ongoing meeting of the Standing Committee meeting of the CPN-UML continued today.

A press release said party leaders Ghanashyam Bhushal, Prithvi Subba Gurung, Amrit Kumar Bohara, Pushpa Kandel, Keshav Badal, Kiran Gurung, and Satya Narayan Mandal spoke in today’s meeting.

The release said that the meeting felt that the erstwhile UML-led government had achieved some key successes in neutralising the challenges posed by the blockade at the border points, unrest in the Tarai region and in the sphere of geopolitics.

“The meeting feels pride in that the UML-led government, keeping national self-respect high,  took positive steps to achieve the goal of equitable and just society through overall development,” read the release.

The party leaders who spoke in the meeting also said that the mistakes the party-led government made while achieving its goals would serve as lesson and would be a matter of introspection, according to the release.

The party leaders also highlighted the need for greater unity in the party. They said that the party should take effective steps to materialise the polices adopted in the ninth General Convention in order to make the party the largest  party in the next general elections.

The SC meeting will continue tomorrow.
