Govt-aided cowsheds to be inspected: Chhattisgarh Min

Raipur, Aug 18 (UNI) Following the controversy over the alleged death of cows in large numbers at cowsheds in Kanker and other places in Chhattisgarh state’s Animal Husbandry Minister Brijmohan Agrawal issued directives for inspection of all government aided cowsheds.
“District officials have been directed to submit a detailed report on conditions of shelter, food and health of cows in government-aided cowsheds by the month’s end. Necessary steps would be taken for improvement on the basis of the report. Besides, the decision to provide further grant to cowshed would depend on the report,” Mr Agrawal told UNI over telephone.
Admitting that 28 cows died at Kanker’s Karramad, he claimed that Opposition parties – including former chief minister Ajit Jogi’s newly-floated Chhattisgarh Janata Party – were exaggerating the number of mortalities.
