I ensured no politician gets framed in Bofors guns controversy: Mulayam

Lucknow, Aug 18 (UNI) Samajwadi Party president Mulayam Singh Yadav has stir up a hornet nest after three decades by claiming that he had saved the leaders particularly the Gandhi family in the Bofors guns controversy when he was the Defence minister.
Mr Yadav made this claim during a programme in the state capital yesterday saying that he personally went to border areas in Kashmir and saw Bofors guns working perfectly. "Then I decided to go slow on Bofors files and ensured that no politician got entangled in litigation."
"When it comes to Bofors, people talked ill of Rajiv Gandhi but when I, as defence minister saw Bofors working, I felt that he had done something good. Bofors guns were superb. So, I decided that no politicians will be penalised for Bofors," Mr Yadav reportedly said.
