Swamy fires fresh salvo, says will not be silent on social media

Swamy claimed that Congress was spreading the rumour that there was a gag order on him by the BJP.

New Delhi: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Subramanian Swamy, who raked up a storm by taking on Reserve Bank of India (RBI) governor Raghuram Rajan and later, CEA Arvind Subramanian, said on Wednesday that he will not stay silent on social media.

In a tweet, Swamy claimed that Congress was spreading the rumour that there was a gag order on him.

Here, PTs refers to ‘Patriotic Tweeples’ and MSM to mainstream media. It is not clear who ‘Shakuni’ is meant to be.

Swamy’s tweet came after unconfirmed reports started floating that the party had finally cracked the whip on Swamy.

The BJP Parliamentarian who was once leader of the Janata Party had raised the hackles of senior party functionaries, after he appeared to take on Finance Minister Arun Jaitley.

Swamy, whose tirade against prominent economists apart from Raghuram Rajan had irked even the Prime Minister, seems intent on continuing his Twitter rants.

In an interview, Narendra Modi had said, "Whether it is in my party or not, I still think such things are inappropriate. This fondness for publicity will not do any good to the nation."

Swamy had reduced his Twitter activity soon after Modi’s snub. He had even stayed silent during Parliamentary debates in the monsoon session. But now, it seems the 76-year-old Swamy will be back at his aggressive best.
