Drug haul: Hunt on for Dr Abdullah
Ahmedabad: Gujarat ATS, which is investigating the case in which ephedrine worth Rs 270 crore was seized from a factory located on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, is now looking for a man named Dr Abdullah. Sources in the ATS said the accused arrested in the case have mentioned in their statements that this Dr Abdullah was present in the meeting held in Kenya in December 2015.

The sources said the accused did not have much information about this Dr Abdullah. "The accused arrested earlier in the case said Dr Abdullah was the person sitting close to international drug kingpin, Vicky Goswami," said a source.
The sources in the ATS said that during interrogation of the accused Narendra Kacha, Punit Singeri and Mukesh Jain, it had come to light that international drug kingpin, Vicky Goswami, son of former MLA Bhavsinh Rathod, Kishoresinh Rathod, and man named Bharat were also present at the meeting that was allegedly held to finalize the drug deal.
Gujarat ATS had arrested Narendra Kacha from the spot during the raid on the factory while the other two accused, Punit Singeri and Mukesh Jain, were nabbed by Maharashtra police in connection with seizure of Rs 2,000 crore worth ephedrine from a factory in Solapur earlier in May 2016. "Singeri and Jain were later arrested on transfer warrant as the ephedrine seized from Ahmedabad factory had come from the same Solapur factory owned by Mukesh Jain," said an ATS official.
It is may be recalled that in a joint operation in May 2016, teams of Gujarat ATS and city crime branch had seized a large quantity of ephedrine and arrested a man named Narendra Kacha, who was hired by Kishoresinh Rathod to make methamphetamine drug from ephedrine. "Rathod, along with Vicky Goswami - currently living in Kenya - and gangster Ravi Pujari were running an international drug cartel," said a senior ATS official.
