Another love story for Irrfan Khan
Features in Tanuja Chandra’s first directorial in 10 years, a romcom based on an unlikely couple.

After Saket Chaudhary's Hindi Medium with Pakistani actress Saba Qamar, a comedy revolving around a Chandni Chowk couple trying to blend in with the Capital’s elite, and Homi Adajania’s next, in which he plays a rockstar, Irrfan Khan will play the lead in Tanuja Chandra’s next directorial, a romcom.

Tanuja has made films like the Sanjay Dutt and Kajol-starrer Dushman and Sangharsh, featuring Akshay Kumar and Preity Zinta. Her last outing was Hope and A Little Sugar in 2006, which premiered and won an award in October, 2006, at the South Asian International Film Festival in New York. It was also the opening film in 2008 for the Opening Night Gala at BAFTA.

“Irrfan has loved the script; Tanuja had been working on it since a long time. It’s a romcom revolving around an unlikely couple that falls in love on a road trip. The film is set in India and will roll in November,” informs a source close to the project, adding that the 49-year-old actor will start filming after wrapping up Hindi Medium and concluding his promotions for Ron Howard’s Inferno, in which he co-stars alongside Hollywood veteran Tom Hanks.

Casting for the lead actress is currently underway. “The makers are still scouting for talent for the role,” adds the source.

Tanuja remained unavailable for comment.
