The workout session for Kimaya has now become an exciting fitness routine as she doesn’t have to slip into baggy clothes to do the stretches any longer. Instead she turns up in a trendy outfit that is often teamed with a colourful scarf neatly wrapped around her waist.

“With interesting styles to learn every time, fitness programme has become so much more fun as I have enrolled myself in a Zumba class,” beams Kimaya.

Faiz Fitness Studio turns more vibrant as those aged 12 or less make way make way to a tailored Zumba session. The instructors take turns to prompt the moves and the little ones thoroughly enjoy the fun-filled fitness programme. “The demand for fast-paced moves is gradually catching up among young ones. Kids Zumba caters to those who never get tired of dancing. Besides the regular classes at the studio, we are also focusing on creating awareness on multiple benefits of Latin American dance form among students in schools. Since a number of schools do not have playgrounds, in-house Zumba classes provide the much-needed relief to children,” says Faiz Begum, certified instructor of the studio.

Apart from regular styles, Zumba for kids also includes salsa, cumbia, tango and merengue which generate interest among the young minds. “This is the most fascinating part of the dance form. Even those who are not so fond of exercising will end up falling in love with this fitness programme as it weaves fun and physical activity seamlessly where kids hardly realise that they are working out,” shares Nidhi Sharma, kids Zumba instructor.

While a new breed of Zumba lovers find their way to the fitness studios, the dance form is also becoming increasingly popular among homemakers. “Those who aim at relatively narrow waist opt for Zumba,” says Mohammad Siddique, dance instructor at Strings Music and Dance Academy.
