CHANDIGARH: Kaithal police have failed to arrest Mohan Lal alias Monu, a BCom (final) student, the main accused in minor Dalit girl's rape case, even two days after the crime was committed.
The girl, 16, was raped after she was kidnapped by Mohan with the help of three men in a car on Monday. She was returning home after attending Independence Day celebrations at her school in Kaithal district, when Mohan, who is the main accused in the case, stopped her on the pretext of asking her something.
When she stopped, his accomplices came in a car and kidnapped her.
During in-camera proceedings on Wednesday, the girl deposed before a woman magistrate and told her that she was kidnapped by carborne men, who dropped her at the residence of their accomplice Saurabh Kumar, who has been arrested. She said Mohan raped her at Saurabh's house.
Kaithal deputy superintendent of police (headquarters) Tarun Kumar, the investigating officer, said police teams were conducting raids to nab Mohan. "Once Mohan is arrested, we will be able to identify the kidnappers. Saurabh was produced before the court today and remanded to judicial custody," he said.
