MUMBAI: It will be a tough time for the Mumbai police as well the journalist particularly the electronic media covering underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's nephew's wedding reception at Hotel Tulip star in Juhu on Wednesday evening. Police have made elaborate bandobast fearing trouble between the electronic media, photographers and Dawood's kin handling the venue.
Dawood's youngest nephew Alishah Parkar will be getting married in Mumbai on Wednesday.
The Nikah (religious ceremony) took place at Rasool mosque at Telli Mohalla at Nagpada on early Wednesday morning, the family has kept a reception at Hotel Tulip star at Juhu at evening. Alishah Parkar is the son of Dawood's late sister Haseena Parkar who died last year due to heart attack.
"This is the first time that the media has learnt about the ceremony and the venue few days prior so we are expecting lot of media at the venue and hence we have alerted the local police to give elaborate bandobast.'' said a senior police officer.
Security agencies only fear is that there should not be any trouble as the family too have engaged bouncers to check the unwanted guest. "Our problem is that we will not allow any media person entering inside and trying to click the picture, this time we are going to take the matter to police if some unwanted guest tries to enter inside, its a private affair-only for the TRP media should not spoil our functions." reacted a relative.
Beside the local police which will be taking care of law and order situation, the crime branch sleuths will be in mufti keeping a watch on the guest who will be attending the wedding. There are unconfirmed reports that crime branch have already secretly booked a suit in the hotel through a private person and is keeping a tab. Hotel management has been asked to access them to the cctv footage of the entire wedding. "We know that no hardened criminals will come to attend the wedding knowing very well that the media and security agencies will be present, we are not taking any risk and will keep the video recording just for our records.." said a crime branch official on condition of anonymity.
On the other hand the family have made arrangement to video shoot the marriage ceremony so that Dawood and his cronies in Pakistan can watch it live through the Skype.
Close family sources said that this wedding is considered to be a grand wedding as Alishah is the last member in the family of Parkar to get married. Alishah's elder brother Danish died in a road accident in 2006. Alishah who stays at Gordan apartment at Nagpada is into construction business. He is getting married to girl Ayesha Nagani, from a Memon community. Sources said that couple had been seeing each other for sometime. Sources said that Dawood has asked his men in Mumbai to see that there is nothing amiss in the wedding as there is no senior member in the family after Haseena's death. Dawood's younger brother Iqbal Kaskar has also been asked to take extra security cover fearing an attack from any rival gang. Sources said that the latter has been taking precautions since the attempt on his life outside Pakmodia Street in 2011 by Chhota Rajan's men.
