The Kaminey actor is reportedly going to play the role of Raja Rawal Ratan Singh, Rana of Mewar as against Ranveer's role of Alauddin Khilji. Ranveer, who has played the lead role in the last two films by Bhansali had agreed to star in the film without a narration at first. However, just as he learned that Shahid was on board, he asked for the script to be sure that both roles were on equal footing.

Looks like Ranveer doesn't want to leave it to fate, as playing a negative character will be directly against his good boy image amongst fans and the audience. And according to an insider source, Ranveer has the meatier role and Bhansali has written some fantastic lines for the movie.

The Gunday actor is being extra careful with his new-found stardom, and he is right on his part fiercely protecting it. He has quite a few interesting upcoming projects with Zoya Akhtar's travel film along with Aditya Chopra's Befikre.
