GHAZIABAD: Four sharpshooters of western UP, who had allegedly carried out the deadly attack on BJP leader Brijpal Teotia in Ghaziabad on August 11, were arrested on Tuesday. Senior officers of UP Police told TOI that the four men have provided valuable leads following their arrests on the basis of which a manhunt has been launched to nab their accomplices.
The men have been identified as Rahul Tyagi, Ram Singh, Jeetendra and Nishad.
Police said they were tracing the antecedents of the four men and verifying the gangs to which they could possibly belong.
According to Teotia’s younger brother, Vikas, the injured man’s condition was improving further. “Brijpal Teotia’s health condition is palpably better than before. He talked to some of the visitors on Tuesday. Doctors have assured us that his health is considerably better now,” Vikas said.
A senior UP police officer, meanwhile, said information provided by the four arrested men has vindicated the police line of investigation from Day 1. “The men have provided vital information on the plot that had been hatched to carry out the attack on Teotia. They have also named certain key people who hatched the plot,” he said.
BJP leaders including national general secretary Ram Lal Ji, Gautam Buddh Nagar MP Dr Mahesh Sharma and Noida MLA Vimla Batham were among those who visited Teotia on Tuesday.
