Now, HSC students can seek revaluation of all six papers
Pune: Students can now seek revaluation of all six subjects of the Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC, standard XII) exam following changes in rules.
The Maharashtra State Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education made the changes in the exam rules recently following demand from parents and students. Earlier, the state board gave photocopies of answer scripts of all subjects but re-evaluated any three of students’ choice.
“For a long time, there was a demand from students and parents to allow revaluation of all subjects if needed.
These revaluations do not really yield any great changes in marks but it is only for satisfaction of students and parents. Hence, we decided to allow all six subjects from this year onwards,” said Gangadhar Mhamane, chairman of the state board.
Besides this, the state board has also allowed students securing 90% and above marks in the HSC to make changes in marks even if there is a difference of one mark after revaluation. Earlier, the state board made changes only if the re-evaluated marks differed 5% from the total marks scored by the student.
“We have decided to change the overall result even if there was a change of a single mark. In this competitive world, every mark makes a difference for students so it was decided to change the results,” said Mhamane.
Surabhi Vidyasagar, a mother of a student studying in standard XII, said the changes in the assessment rules made by the state board are at tandem with the changing times. “I do not know about the outcome of the revaluation system as many parents and students keep complaining about delays after applications have been made. However, these changes are with the time as every mark counts these days.”
