NOIDA: In a bid to get the attention of the state government and impose pressure upon the builders to commence and execute their incomplete projects; homebuyers of Noida’s sector 107, on Independence Day, hosted a drawing competition for children, with the subject ‘Ghar Dilwao Akhileshji.’ Children from families of buyers sat down to participate in the artistic campaign for the houses; the home buyers further raised their protests via social media by posting the pictures and videos of the day.
The hashtag Ghar Dilwao Akhileshji has been a longstanding campaign by the buyer of Sector 107.
"We have been shuttling between the Supreme Court and the Allahabad High court for a very long time. Now we want our houses to be complete and get handed over.
The apartments are all between 80%-90% complete. We want that the present government should ensure that all home buyers get their apartments ahead of the 2017 UP elections,” Puneet Parashar, member of sector 107 home buyers’ association, said.
The buyers have been pressing with the Noida Authority to make the buyers commit on a deadline for handovers. “It is for a benefit of all that the buyers get the houses soon. After such a long delay, the buyers are at the end of patience,” Parashar added.
5000 homebuyers of Sector 107 were locked in litigation until last month at the Supreme Court. Sector 107, which is located in the Sallharpur village of Noida was initially notified and acquired by Noida Authority. The land acquisition was challenged by Maharishi Vidyalaya, whose land it initially was. Maharishi Vidyalaya settled for a higher compensation as withdrew its case from the Allahabad High Court. As a result of this, the Supreme Court too resolved the case.
Over 200 home buyers from all three projects of sector 107 gathered in the spirit of unity to protest against additional delays by builders even after the clearance of the legal hiccups. “The main theme of today’s protests was to seek freedom and independence from loans and emis. The buyers had no role to play in the land acquisition issue. We are mere victims in the matter. Now that the matter stands resolved, we urge the UP State government to ensure we get our houses before the next election,” Parashar added.
