Shekhar Kapoor, AR Rahman & Samir Bangara backed Indian multi-channel network (MCN) Qyuki has launched Jammin’, a musical collaboration between music composers and nine YouTube personalities. The series will consist of 10 original music video launches on YouTube between the 19th of August and 21st of October.

The series will end with a live concert with all the composers and YouTubers performing on the 11th of November. The lineup of artists includes AR Rahman, Salim-Sulaiman, Clinton Cerejo and Mithoon collaborating with Shraddha Sharma, Siddharth Slathia, Jonita Gandhi, Arjun Kanungo, Maati Baani, Raaga Trippin and Sanah Moidutty among others.

Note that in August last year, Qyuki and Migme had signed a deal that would have Qyuki add 1-2 major local artists every quarter to the migme platform. Artists would bring their content, video and fans to migme, where a new community would be created. Artists would subsequently receive a share of revenues generated from the sale of virtual goods and gifts received from their fans.

Other developments at Qyuki

– In December 2014, Qyuki and Los Angeles-based media company Fullscreen tied-up to offer Indian digital content creators opportunities to monetize and distribute their content and access to production & technology services from both network.

–  In July 2014, Qyuki signed a deal to create content around music from Universal Music Group (UMG) and its affiliated publishing entity Universal Music Publishing Group. As part of the deal Qyuki will create cover versions of YouTube content, create new shows with Universal artists & repurpose audio content into video.

– The same month, Vuclip launched Viu, a video on demand (VOD) service in India and branched into original content with the launch of Viu Originals, starting with a cricket comedy chat series called What the Duck.
