It is common for film producers to boast of fancy numbers as collection figures for their films. But this is, perhaps, the first time in Sandalwood that all distributors of a film are coming together to announce the box office collection reports of Sudeep-starrer Kotigobba-2 that released on Friday.
Distributor 'Jack' Manju ' who released the film in Bengaluru-Kolar-Tumakuru (BKT) ' said, "All the six distributors from the seven areas of
Karnataka will be in Bengaluru on Tuesday.
We are very happy with how the film has fared at the box office and will announce all details."
The film got off to a rather tepid start on Friday but added shows over the next two days. As per sources, the film distributors have put the fourday collection of the film at Rs 22 crore, including Rs 6.5 crore from BKT. "The festival release (on Varamahalakshmi) saw only the fans watching it. It was only after the evening shows that family audience started coming to theatres. But the following days were humongous. Let's hear it from the distributors themselves," said Sudeep, the lead actor. Manju has said that the collections in BKT have exceeded opening weekend collections of all previous films of Sudeep.
Sudeep is also thrilled with the response to the Tamil version of the film, called
Mudinja Ivana Pudi. "There were some hurdles and till the last moment, there were doubts about the release in Tamil on Friday.
