Sialkot gets first-ever art gallery

SIALKOT-The district has got its first-ever art gallery as a Sialkot-based young architect and artist Maroof Ahmed Chaudhry has established the gallery here.
Maroof Ahmed Chaudhry has completed his fine arts education from National College of Arts (NCA) Lahore.
Talking to media, he pointed out that the city of Allama Iqbal never had any art gallery which made him realised of establishing an international standard art gallery to promote fine arts among the local youth.
Sialkot DCO Dr Asif Tufail and Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCI) President Maj (r) Mansoor Ahmed jointly inaugurated the newly-established gallery and also a five-day national level exhibition of paintings.
On the occasion, the DCO said that Sialkot is enriched with natural talent of fine arts but the talent is in dire need of polishing. About 35 male and female artists from across the country displayed their paintings at the exhibition which is being attended by artists in a large number. The visitors also showed keen interest in the portraits of oil paintings and colour sketches put on display.
