Screen writer T A Rasaq passed away
Rasaq who worked for more than thirty films in Malayalam started his career wth the film 'Vishnulokam' directed by noted film maker Kamal in 1991.
MALAPPURAM: Noted Malayalam script writer T A Rasaq, 58, passed away at a private hospital in Kochi on Monday night. He was under treatment for liver related problems for last some weeks.
Rasaq who worked for more than thirty films in Malayalam started his career with the film 'Vishnulokam' directed by noted filmmaker Kamal in 1991. He won the state film award for best screenplay and story in 1996 for the film 'Kanakkinavu' in which Murali was in lead role.
He also won state film awards for best stories in 2002 and 2004 for the films 'Ayirathil Oruvan' and 'Perumazhakkalam' respectively. 'Rappakal', 'Bus Conductor' , 'Vesham' 'Nadodi', 'Gazal', 'Thalolam', 'Sneham' 'Saphalayam' etc are other major screen writings by Rasaq.
Rasaq who was born in Thurakkal near Kondotty town in Malappuram on April 25, 1958 was also active in local level theatre movements. Rasaq’s brother T A Shahid who also was a screenwriter passed away in 2016.
The body of Rasaq would be kept at town hall in Kochi for public to pay final respect after which it would also be kept at Moyinkutty Vaidyar Memorial in Kondotty in Malapuram on Tuesday morning. The burial would be held at Kondotty Jumamasjid at 11am on Tuesday.
