A suggestion is being made for a dual fuel power plant to be built at the soon to be reopened Alpart plant in Nain, St. Elizabeth.
Richard Parchment, former Member of Parliament for South East St. Elizabeth, says this would allow the plant to convert from coal to another source of cleaner energy in the future.
Mr. Parchment says he is part of a negotiating team that has met with representatives of the new owners of Alpart, Chinese firm, JISCO.
Mr. Parchment says JISCO has given the assurance that it will address environmental concerns about establishing the coal-fired plant.
