Avengers: Arrest Jonathan’s blackmailers, kinsmen tell police

Goodluck Jonathan2

Former President Goodluck Jonathan

Simon  Utebor, Yenagoa

The kinsmen of former President Goodluck Jonathan have challenged the security agencies to unmask the militants perpetrating economic sabotage and engaged in the campaign of calumny against the ex-President.

They spoke against the backdrop of the recent allegation linking Jonathan to the militant group, the Niger Delta Avengers

The kinsmen, under the aegis of Ogbia Brotherhood, at a press conference on  Monday evening in Yenagoa, condemned in strong terms what they described as “the dangerous, spurious and wild allegation against their illustrious son (Jonathan)”, by a faceless group of mischief makers.

The National Chairman, OB, Chief Benson Agadaga, who spoke on behalf of the executive members, said the allegations against Jonathan were false, baseless, mischievous and wicked.

He, therefore, urged the purported spokesman of the Reformed Niger Delta Avengers to look elsewhere for her uncanny campaign of calumny.

Agadaga added that the criminal and devilish intention and cheap propaganda to rubbish the political status of the former President could not be concealed with the hypocritical excuse of non-performance and failing to develop the impoverished Niger Delta region.

He said, “It is unthinkable that the former President, by an iota of imagination, could be linked with sponsoring or even establishing an armed outfit like the Niger Delta Avengers to antagonise the Federal Government where he has just served as President by the goodwill of all Nigerians.

“May I add with unequivocal terms that the allegation lacks substance and does not bear true reflection or semblance to the nature, original beliefs and intent of the prominent son of Ogbia who holds the revered title as Grand Commander of the Federal Republic of Nigerian.”

He described the former President as an embodiment of peace and stability, adding that from his antecedents, pedigree and actions, Jonathan had exuded peace and a firm believer in the sanctity of life, unity and prosperity of Nigeria as an indivisible entity.
