Police have named the 23-year-old man who died in a road crash earlier this week.

Ross Quinn, from Kilwinning, died in the crash around 6.40pm on Wednesday on the A737 Beith bypass in North Ayrshire.

His relatives have been informed.

Mr Quinn had been travelling south on his Aprilia motorcycle near the junction with Gateshead Road when the incident occurred.

He is then thought to have lost control of his motorcycle before colliding with a Mercedes Sprinter van and a BMW 3 Series travelling in the opposite direction.

Emergency services were in attendance but Mr Quinn was pronounced dead at the scene.

The drivers of the other vehicles involved were uninjured.

Tributes to Mr Quinn were left on the Ayrshire Police Division Facebook page, with one reading: "Rip buddy! Never forgot the memories we have, always in my heart, sleep tight Rossco."

Another user posted: "Rip Rossco such a shame, and so young heart goes out to your wee girlfriend and family x."

Sergeant Iain Pittams issued a renewed appeal for any witnesses to the crash to contact the Divisional Road Policing Unit at Irvine on 101.
