The 101st edition of the Olympic Games has seen many ups and downs, especially for the Indian side, as in athletics the Indians too came up with an average performance, thus failing to qualify onto the next round, and potentially ending India’s hopes for a medal in athletics department, on Day 10 of the ongoing Rio Olympics 2016, at Rio de Janerio on Monday. The Independence Day saw the Indians competing in three different categories as of late afternoon, with Renjith Maheshwary, who was finished 30th in Men’s triple jump, followed by Srabani Nanda, who ranked 55 in the Women’s 200m race, while Lalita Babar finished 10th in the Women’s 3000m steeplechase race. In Men’s Triple Jump Qualifying Round, Renjith came up with a tight and hard-fought performance, as he aimed for the top two spot, but failed to earn it. His opening attempt resulted in 15.80 points, followed by a better of 16.13 points in the second attempt, while the third attempt resulted in 15.99 points, as he finished at the 15th spot, that was definitely not enough to qualify for the final round. In the Women’s 200m Round 1, India’s Srabani was off to a fair and promising start, as she was a possibility to finish in the top two, but her pace gradually declined, as she was not able to cope up with the pace of the other competitors, and managed to finish in the sixth spot in Heat 5 of the event, thus failing to make it through to the semi-final. 2016 Rio Olympics India Schedule Day 10

In the Women’s 3000m Steeplechase Final, it was a tough competition for the Indian runner Lalita was off to a steady start, but the pace of the other athletes was fast enough, as she couldn’t cope up with their pace, and eventually finished behind in the 10th spot. The Day 10 is all set to witness action badminton (5.30 pm), as Srikanth Kidambi is in action in Men’s singles, followed by wrestling (7.02 pm), Ravinder Khatri is in action, followed by badminton (2.00 am), where PV Sindhu is in action in Women’s singles, while in boxing (3.30 am).
