The Saints need all the help they can get on defense, so they definitely don’t need this.

According to Jeff Duncan of the New Orleans Times-Picayune, Saints defensive tackle Sheldon Rankins was carted off the practice field moments ago.

Rankins was apparently injured during goal-line drills, and trainers were examining his lower left leg as teammates gathered around him.

The first-round pick from Louisville has earned good reviews in camp, including picking off a Tom Brady pass in last week’s joint practices.
