Srikanth and Sindhu were the two shuttlers who won their respective matches on Sunday – a day which was the most disappointing one for the Indian contingent this year.

Lalita Babara is another athlete in action after creating history earlier. Babar not only broke the national record in 3,000m steeplechase, but also advanced to the final of the event.

Boxer Vikas Krishan Yadav has also looked in fine form and expectations are now high from him as well.

Yadav is just one win away from an Olympic medal after a comprehensive victory over his opponent, Onder Sipal of Turkey, in his pre-quarterfinal bout.

India will begin its wrestling campaign on Monday with Ravinder Khatri taking part in the men's Greco-Roman 85 kg qualification. His opponent is yet to be determined.

Battling a knee injury, Saina suffered a 18-21, 19-21 defeat against Ukrainian Maria Ulitina.
