Raman announces 832-km 'Digital Highway' in Naxal-hit Bastar

Raipur, Aug 15 (UNI) Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh today announced his government's decision to lay 832 km-long optical fibre cable across seven Naxal-affected districts in Bastar division under an ambitious ‘Bastar Net’ project to improve internet connectivity in the entire region.
“The Rs 40 crore ‘Bastar Net’ project will act as the Digital Highway of Bastar connecting the tribal-dominated Bastar region to the digital world,” said Dr Singh while addressing the state-level Independence Day programme held at the Police Parade Ground here.
Since the network will be based on ring method and function in a loop, mobile and internet services in the region will not be affected even if it get disconnected at one point.
