YEKATERINBURG (Sputnik) — He welcomed the Russian initiative on establishing humanitarian corridors in the city and called for maintaining them on the 24-hour basis.

"We see pictures of Aleppo, it is a sad catastrophe. Humanitarian situation in Aleppo is disastrous. We see ruined houses, unending bombings. It cannot go on like that," Steinmeier said after the talks with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

"I believe that three-hour ceasefires will be insufficient, we need to secure permanent corridors in Aleppo for supply of civilians," Steinmeier added.
