Norway’s Petroleum Safety Authority has given its consent to ExxonMobil for the use of two mobile drilling facilities Island Frontier and Island Wellserver for light well intervention at Sigyn field in the North Sea.

The field, which contains gas, condensate and light oil, is located in production licence 072, where ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Norway is the operator.

Production at the field commenced in 2002.

Sigyn has been developed using a subsea well template and is 222km west of Stavanger and the water depth in the area is 70m.

The well stream is transported to the Sleipner A facility 12km north-west of the well template.

ExxonMobil will use Island Frontier and Island Wellserver facilities owned by Island Offshore to undertake light well intervention at Sigyn.

Built in 2004 at the Søviknes yard, Island Frontier is registered in Norway and classified by DNV GL. It was issued with an acknowledgement of compliance (AoC) by the PSA in October 2006.

Island Wellserver, which was built in 2008 at the Aker Langsten yard, is registered in Norway and was issued with an AoC in April 2009.
