Ashraf Sherjan, leader of the Baloch Republican Party on Monday, thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for highlighting Pakistani atrocities in Balochistan. He hoped that Balochistan would also celebrate its Independence with India very soon. “Jai Hind”, he added in a tweet. Mehran Marri, Balochistan’s representative to the EU and UN thanked Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi for raising the issues faced by the people of Balochistan. He said that Prime Minister Modi’s speech on India’s Independence day about raising the issue of Balochistan on international forums has given hope to the people that they have not been forgotten.

Balochistan has been reported to have been facing cruelties at the hands of Pakistani armed forces. The region has been a subject for years now. Thanking the Prime Minister, Director of Gilgit-Baltistan National Congress, SH Sering said that this was the first time that a big leader like PM Modi has taken a stand on the issue. He said that that the Indian Prime Minister’s initiative to highlight the atrocities in the region has been a major help in the time of crisis. Sering added that the people of Balochistan are suffering a genocide at the hands of Pakistan military and Pakistan. He hoped that Prime Minister Modi’s initiatives might help expose Pakistan’s violations of Human rights in PoK.

Earlier last week, Modi had warned Pakistan against funding militants in Kashmir and threatened to expose its crimes in the Balochistan region. Modi had said that Pakistan needed to stop funding and sheltering terrorists or face consequences. He had added that if Pakistan doesn’t stop interfering in India’s internal matter, India would expose the reality of Pakistan’s inhuman acts in the PoK region. On Monday, on the eve of India’s Independence Day, Modi again raised the issue and spoke about Pakistan glorifying terrorism.
