British
luxury brandJaguar is all set to launch its refreshed
XF saloon in India in the second half of August. After the launch of the
XE sedan, this will be the second offering among the three fresh models announced by the carmaker at the 2016 Indian Auto Expo. Another model which will be introduced this year is the
F-Pace SUV.
The refreshed XF comes with major changes, like a new lighter platform, which helps it weigh just 1,687kg.
To ensure the saloon's weight is in check, aluminium has been extensively used in building the platform. Apart from the lighter chassis, the automaker claims that dynamics of the XF have further improved because of the weight reduction.
The vehicle has also gone longer than the version it replaces, with 5,067mm of length. Even the wheelbase now measures 2,960mm, a good 51mm extra than previous model. With this stretched wheelbase, the cabin space is likely to increase by a decent margin.
Coming to the interior, the XF features a XJ-borrowed steering wheel along with a redesigned dashboard. The comfort level has gone a notch higher with the seats getting more premium feel. The top-of-the-line version gets a 10.2-inch InControl Touch Pro System with 10GB of onboard storage.
It is likely to get minor cosmetic upgrades like a redesigned bumper, larger piano black grille and more prominent contours on the bonnet. Furthermore, it will boast full LED headlights and LED taillights and younger looking alloy wheels.
The Jaguar XF will be offered in both diesel and petrol engine options. A 2.0-litre Ingenium
diesel unit might be plonked in the update, which will be mated to a ZF sourced 8-speed automatic transmission. However, the petrol powerplant is likely to remain the same 2.0-litre, which belts out 240PS of power and 240Nm of torque.
With the launch expected in the second half of this month, prices of the new XF are likely to start at approximately Rs 55 lakh.
