New Delhi: Former Supreme Court judge Markandey Katju on Monday was all praise for Prime Minister Narendra Modi for poking Pakistan over Balochistan in his Independence Day speech.
While agreeing with PM Modi on the Balochistan issue, the former Press Council of India chairman said, “When Pakistan repeatedly incites, encourages and supports agitations and militancy in Kashmir, why should our government not pay Pakistan back in the same coin by doing the same in Sind, Baluchistan and NWFP?”
Known for speaking his mind, Katju dared, Jawaharlal Nehru University students Umar Khalid, Kanhaiya Kumar and other heroes of the JNU and Jadavpur University to demand 'Azadi' for Balochistan, Sind and NWFP.
He advocated for tit for tat policy with Pakistan.
PM Modi today openly came out in support of "freedom" for Balochistan and "Pakistan-occupied Kashmir" and said India will never tolerate terrorism.
"The world is watching. People of Balochistan, Gilgit, Baltistan and occupied Kashmir have thanked me a lot in the past few days. I am grateful to them," Modi said, referring to his comments last week on excesses in Pakistan's largest province and in the Pakistani part of Kashmir.
