The incredible moment a mama bear leaps to save her cubs

While a family of bears was fishing for fresh salmon in a fast-flowing river in Alaska, all three cubs fell over the edge of a waterfall and were dragged downstream.

The mother bear did what any mother would have done and jumped over the waterfall to save her little ones.

The video caught on an Explore web-cam feed, shows the baby bears floating at the top part of the river and their mum looking out over the edge of the waterfall.

The strong current then becomes too much for the cubs and one by one they are pulled over the rocky ledge and down the river.

The mama bear sees this and immediately kicks into survival mode, leaping to her little ones’ defense.

When she reaches the two cubs who fell first, she stops them in their path to make sure they don’t float further away.

Just as the two get ushered to safety, the third cub comes flying downstream and mum comes running to the rescue.

“And the Mother of the Year award goes to... Grazer!!! All 3 of her cubs ended up going over the falls, thankfully they are all ok!” Explore.org captioned the Facebook video.

Since it was uploaded on August 10, the inspirational video went viral, receiving more than 1.2 million views and 21,000 shares.

Thankfully mama bear was on the lookout and her three cubs all came out unscathed.
