VADODARA: The MS University has launched an inquiry into the clashes that erupted between Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad and the National Students Union of India supporters that had left 13 including a teacher injured on Saturday.
Ten police points will also be set up on the campus where cops will be stationed till the polls get over.
During an emergency meeting called by MSU vice-chancellor professor Parimal Vyas, it was decided to form a fact-finding committee which will probe the reasons and identify those responsible for the violence on the campus, which had started over the issue of campaigning ahead of MSU Students Union (MSUSU) polls scheduled on September 3.

University officials have also decided to beef up security on campus till the polls get over for which they had a word with police commissioner E Radhakrishnan. It has been decided that the university itself will file a police complaint regarding the clash and any other clash that occurs at campus.
The fact-finding committee, which will submit its report within seven days, has professor R C Patel as convener, professor Ranjan Aiyer as member and Mayank Vyas as member secretary.
Among other measures, officials have issued directions regarding strict checking of identity cards of those entering campus premises and banning entry of unauthorized persons.
While no student will be allowed to roam inside campus after college hours, students will be barred from entering the hostel premises after 11 pm.

The unrest continued for around two hours and the mob had outnumbered the university's vigilance staff. Both the outfits had attacked each other with hockey sticks, belts, pipes, iron rods, chairs and even pelted stones against each other.
Meanwhile, Baroda University Teachers Association (BUTA) has threatened to boycott poll duty during the forthcoming elections. During the clash, Dr Mitesh Sarkar, a teacher of Department of Physics, who was trying to pacify the mob, had also received minor injuries on his head.
"We have given a letter to the vice-chancellor demanding immediate action," said BUTA's general secretary Nikul Patel. The association has demanded strict action against the unruly students by identifying them using CCTV footage.
It has also demanded immediate removal of dean of Faculty of Science for not filing police complaint against students who were involved in the clash.
