Minors 8.14.16: Xorge Carrillo 4-hit game fuels B-Mets' win

BINGHAMTON 6, HARRISBURG 2: Xorge Carrillo went 4-for-5 with a homer as Binghamton won the season series, 5-4. Derrik Gibson opened the game with a walk and stole second. He later scored on Dominic Smith’s single, giving the B-Mets an early 1-0 lead. Binghamton added to that advantage in the second when Carrillo belted a leadoff homer. The power display continued in the third. Smith led off with a double and Matt Oberste followed with a two-run homer for a 4-0 lead. Smith’s long ball in the seventh made it 5-1 and snapped his 19-game homerless drought. B-Mets starter Josh Zeid (4-3) allowed two runs in six innings. He retired 11 batters in a row at one point in his first start upon returning from Las Vegas. Binghamton’s final run came in the ninth when Oberste doubled and Jayce Boyd drove him in with a single. Smith went 3-for-5 and was a triple shy of the cycle. Box

JUPITER 10, ST. LUCIE 8: St. Lucie rallied in the bottom of the ninth as Patrick Biondi and Kevin Kaczmarski produced RBI singles. However, Michael Katz came to the plate as the winning run and popped out in foul territory to end the game as the Mets lost their fourth straight and fell a game out of first place. Jupiter’s Avery Romero had a pair of solo homers and a double. Romero and Dexter Kjerstad consecutively went deep in the fourth against Josh Prevost to turn a 3-2 deficit into a 4-3 lead. Kaczmarski had delivered a two-run double in the first to put the Mets ahead 3-0. After two scoreless innings, Prevost was roughed up in the third and fourth innings. He surrendered two homers and four doubles and departed trailing 6-3. Ben Griset took over in the fifth and was greeted by a Romero long ball that put Jupiter up by four runs. Griset settled down to strike out seven over four innings. David Thompson’s two-out RBI single in the seventh pulled the Mets within 7-6. Jupiter would go on to score the next three runs. COLUMBIA 3, GREENSBORO 2 (12 innings): Tyler Moore delivered a walk-off RBI single. Dash Winningham's sacrifice fly in the bottom of the eighth tied the score at 2, but the Fireflies left the bases loaded that inning when Milton Ramos grounded out. Box

GREENEVILLE 7, KINGSPORT 3: The K-Mets had built a 3-0 lead on Jose Miguel Medina's solo homer and Will Barring's run-scoring double play in the second. Box

BROOKLYN 2, WEST VIRGINIA 1: Colby Woodmansee and Brandon Brosher opened the sixth with consecutive singles and both scored as the Cyclones overcame a 1-0 deficit. Gabriel Llanes allowed one unearned run on four hits in seven innings. Joseph Zanghi earned his fifth save with a scoreless ninth. Hitting coach Sean Ratliff was ejected in the fourth inning after Jay Jabs was called out on strikes. Box
