Cops nab snatcher thanks to shirt he was wearing

The Sion police has arrested a chain snatcher based on the shirt he was wearing on the day he snatched the chain of a senior citizen. The officers were able to track the victim after the crime was recorded on a CCTV camera in the area. Interestingly, the video concerned went viral and even reached the accused, after which he left the city to avoid being caught.

The Sion police arrested the accused, Javed Mohammad Shamshad Khan (22), from Bhagalpur in Bihar. Officers said that nearly 20 days ago, Khan had robbed Chandraben Mehta (73) as she was heading to a temple.

An officer said: “We saw in the CCTV footage that he was wearing a brownish shirt. We found during investigations that there had been another incident in Antop Hill where the CCTV footage of an accused’s face had been captured and, to our shock, he was wearing the same shirt. This helped us trace Khan.”
