Proline fundraise 30m at glamorous awards dinner

By all standards, the inaugural Proline awards dinner held on Saturday in Kampala was a success and a proud celebration of the club’s long awaited return to the Azam Uganda Premier League..

Everyone got to dine on a delicious three course meal before awards to individual club performers were given out and a sponsorship fundraising session that raked in Shs30m was conducted. In attendance were Proline senior players, academy players and corporates - that the club chairman Mujib targets to bring on board as sponsors by membership.

“We target 200 members this season and if everyone contributes Shs1m, that is Shs200m to supplement the club annual budget of Shs300m,” Kasule revealed.

His noble plea was immediately answered by 30 guests who paid for the club season ticket at Shs1m and promised to spread the Proline gospel.

The award session offered a few surprises with midfielder Joseph Mandela beating 19-goal Edrisa ‘Torres’ Lubega to the coveted club MVP award. Lubega, an energetic Uganda Cranes striker, was however consoled by the top scorer award that fetched him Shs500,000 cash prize.

Proline, founded in 2006, also unveiled its new signings; Yusuf Mukisa, Sam Kintu, Farouk Musisi, Mustafa Mujuzi, Nelson Ssenkatuuka, Dan Isiagi, Hamis ‘Diego’ Kiiza and Savio Kabugo - with a strong vow to avoid being relegated again.
