HYDERABAD: A day after he tried to dub Prime Minister Narendra Modi 'anti-Hindu', Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) veteran Pravin Togadia on Sunday was stopped by central intelligence agencies from travelling to Hyderabad, citing security reasons.
Togadia told TOI over phone that there was change in plan for reasons not to be discussed over phone. Asked whether his comments on Modi had anything to do with cancellation of his trip, the VHP veteran said he didn't want to respond to the query.
"It is not the issue supposed to be discussed on phone. I will come out openly on this shortly," he said.
Togadia was scheduled to address VHP and Bajrang Dal workers in Hyderabad, but VHP leaders said he was forced to cancel his trip.
He was also scheduled to address a public meeting to observe Akhanda Bharath Sankalp Divas apart from participating in the ongoing Pushkarams in Telangana by taking a holy dip in Krishna river.
He was scheduled to arrive at Shamshabad airport at 8.30 am and participate in a series of closed-door meetings. While security is the official reason behind stopping Togadia from travelling to Hyderabad, VHP leaders privately said it could be linked to his outbursts against Modi on Saturday.
