Haridwar, August 14

On the eve of Independence Day, 30 bikers reached Haridwar and Dehradun districts to generate feelings of patriotism and apprise the youth about the vital contribution made by freedom fighters in making India an independent country 69 years ago.

The bikers under the banner, Ride For Independent Freedom Rally, started their campaign from New Delhi two days ago and covered several districts of Uttar Pradesh and will cover various districts of Uttarakhand.

These bikers are being welcomed at various places by various organisations and local people. They have left for Tehri Garhwal and will be back to Haridwar tomorrow morning and then culminate their expedition in New Delhi at India Gate later in the evening.

Ujjwal Batra, coordinator of the freedom rally, said they were overwhelmed by love and response they were getting from people throughout their sojourn.

“Offering rituals at the sanctum sanctorum of Brahm Kund, Har-Ki-Pauri, and being felicitated by Ganga Sabha office-bearers, seers, politicians, academicians and local people, it will be a memorable and morale boosting occasion for us. We are trying to cover the maximum distance and carry out message of peace, harmony and freedom,” said Ujjwal who reached Tehri Garhwal today.

Ganga Sabha president Purushottam Sharma Gandhiwadi lauded the initiative of the bikers, saying this bode well for the country as the youth are recognising the duty towards their country as well as importance of freedom.

Commerce Department Dean, SMJN College, Dr Sunil Kumar Batra said the youth are future of the country and such initiatives spoke volumes of their positive mindset.

Mayor Manoj Garg, ex-legislator Ambrish Kumar, ex-civic chairperson Satpal Brahamchari, social activist Jagdeesh Lal Pahwa, Satish Kumar Jain, industrialist Harendra Garg, Bharat Vikas Parishad member Devendra Lal Sharma among others wished the bikers.

Expedition members Sahil Gurung and Vikas said despite rain, they had been on their campaign successfully.
