Encroachments: Ex-Bommanahalli CMC commissioners seek anticipatory bail

Last Updated 14 August 2016, 20:08 IST

Chikkavenkatappa and R Srinivas, former commissioners of Bommanahalli CMC charged for misusing their powers to favour the builders for construction of apartment on rajakaluve, have Sessions court seeking anticipatory bail.

Lakeview apartment was constructed on three acres of land on Survey number 26/2 at Kodichikkanahalli in 2000. The builders had encroached upon one acre of rajakaluve land. The officials had forged the documents to favour the builders, the residents of the said apartment alleged.

“Under the Survey number 26/2, the Lake View apartment was constructed over three acres of land at Kodichikkanahalli village in 2000. Of this, one acre of land comes on the way of rajakaluve. However, these two officers forged the documents to favour the builders,” the apartment residents alleged.

When the Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) issued a notice in December last year stating that the apartment had encroached upon rajakaluve, we obtained more details through an Right to Information (RTI) enquiry. We had registered a case in Madiwala police station. H Vishwanath, H Ramachandraiah and real estate businessman K Ravindra Reddy had sold the flats,” V Chandrasekhar, resident of the apartment told Deccan Herald.

“We have strong evidence to prove that the officers worked against the law in spite of knowing it was a government land. The case is being investigated and the two have sought anticipatory bail,” police said.
