Students donate money to Red Cross

HAMIRPUR: Students of Classes VI, VII and VIII of Him Academy Public School (HAPS) donated Rs 12,542 to the Red Cross Society.

Students of Classes VI, VII and VIII of Him Academy Public School (HAPS) donated Rs 12,542 to the Red Cross Society. They had earned the money by polishing shoes, maintaining cup boards, watering plants, cleaning washrooms and working as domestic help.

School principal Chanderprabha Lakhanpal said they had been assigned the task under the Student Empowerment through Values in Action (SEVA) programme.

The students learned to work and earn with dignity during the session in summer vacations, she said.

The amount was given to the Deputy Commissioner Madan Chauhan who is also the chairman of the district’s Red Cross Society.
